What is a fallback?
Fallback is a channel backup to send sms otp content successfully if something uncertain happens to the default delivery medium. This could be because of technical uncertainty, mismatched device settings, out-of-network coverage, and more.
Authkey.io is a multichannel API platform that values the importance of communication at the right time. It doesn't allow OTP failure scenarios to occur due to channel failure.
Why is Fallback important for SMS OTP?
A Fallback is necessary when an OTP or transactional message does not deliver or is delayed.
Getting delivers desired information through another channel when the priority channel cannot be reached. A feature of retrieving information through another channel is automatic and does not require human intervention.
The sending of authentication OTP SMS may fail due to network coverage issues or other technical issues, which may result in the Customer's inability to access their account, which may indirectly affect the business. But this typical issue wouldn’t be faced with Authkey’s fallback enabled API. Advanced API triggers the same one time password through other channels at the same time with the same integration , such as Voice calls and Emails.
Authkey Offers you Fallback enabled Multi-Channel API
The medium of information can be stuck, but the delivery of information shouldn't be if we pass the information through a multichannel API.
Authkey offers a multi-channel communication platform that uses SMS, Voice, and Email simultaneously or in parallel, using a robust REST API. Authkey's expertise in cross-channel communication API makes sure your communication doesn't get stifled by a channel failure because we understand the importance of communication at a given point in time and can allow communication to go seamlessly when the right time comes.
Sending SMS, Voice & Emails using Authkey APIs is a doddle and incredibly fast. To send SMS instantly, pass the message body, message sender, mobile number & Authkey.io in the API request.
For SMS, if the sending of SMS fails to deliver, the fallback API triggers to send a Voice call or Email. The small change in API by adding the keyword ”fb1” will enable the fallback feature.
SMS OTP through Voice Call: The built-in text to speech is used to convert text to voice call.
If you wish to trigger fallback only if SMS delivery fails, you can do that by using the below API:
